Florence Here’s to Japanese Ladies!

This morning I heard that there was a concert in Dante’s church just around the corner. It was a nice day so I decided to walk the twenty metres to the little church.

Just by the church is a hole in the wall where a chap sells tripe sandwiches and does all sorts of unspeakable things with tripe.

I was definitely not having any but I asked him what had happened to the concert. He shrugged his shoulders and said “It’s just finished – time for tripe now!”

Then I noticed something rather strange. A Japanese group was surreptitiously taking photos of us. The group leader did NOT look happy.

Then one lady came up to me and asked if I would mind if she took a photograph of me. The group leader still didn’t look too happy.

Yet another lady asked me if she could have her photo taken with me! Then a few more came and had their photos taken with their arms around me. This was quite acceptable.

Finally, I asked the group leader what this was all about. She said, “They think you are a very handsome man!” in her very sternest voice.

A good start to my day!!!

When I return to Australia, I’m now thinking that a stay in Japan on my way back might be a good idea?
